Dry Chemical powder extinguishers utilize a specially siliconized Sodium Bicarbonate. It chemically insulates class B , C fires by forming a cloud and cutting off the oxygen supply, thus extinguishing the fire.
Class A fires
9kg Dry powder fire extinguisher Standard dry powder extinguishers can be used on: Class A fires – combustible materials: caused by flammable solids, such as wood, paper, and textiles. Class B fires – flammable liquids: such as petrol, paint or spirits. Class C fires – flammable gases: like propane and butane.
A dry powder (or powder) fire extinguisher is multi-purpose and can be used on Class A, B and C fires, which is why they’re also known as ABC fire extinguishers.
