“ABC” fire extinguishers are filled with a fine yellow powder. The greatest portion of this powder is composed of mono ammonium phosphate. Nitrogen is used to pressurize the extinguishers.
ABC Fire Extinguishers use mono ammonium phosphate, a dry chemical with the ability to quickly put out many different types of fires by smothering the flames. This pale, yellow powder can put out all three classes of fire: Class A is for trash, wood, and paper. Class B is for liquids and gases.
“ABC” indicating that they are designed to extinguish class A, B, and C fires or “BC” indicating that they are designed to extinguish class B and C fires.
For outdoor environments where various fire type risks are present, such as fuel, vehicle, and chemical, a dry powder fire extinguisher is a very good choice.
Can dry powder fire extinguishers be used indoors?
ABC 6kg dry powder fire extinguisher For all the above reasons, powder fire extinguishers generally should not be used indoors, or in small spaces, unless specified as the most appropriate choice by a fire risk assessment.
